Cheapest price for Ipod nano 8GB (Pink)
Published 3 months, 1 week ago in Uncategorized. My 17 year old daughter has an ipod nano which has recently deceased. It has a sad smiley face on it. She has politely requested a new one for her birthday in April. This polite request has suddenly turned into a banchee scream demand. Any ideas on where I can obtain an 8GB ipod nano preferably a pink one, my budget is a bit tight so any savings on the budget would be greatly appreciated. Thanking you in anticipation of your favourable attention.

Have you tried giving it a whack ? Seriously, although not listed on the Apple support page many blogs list this as a way of restoring life . Options that appear to have worked in the past are throwing it on the floor ( in frustration?) or slamming it into a slightly less resistant material like a pile of A4 paper. No guarantees , it may be a last resort but if you are going to bin it anyway why not give it a try.
I believe the correct technical term for this is percussive maintenance.:-)
Is it still in warranty? If it is, try taking it back to the store (with receipt, documentation etc) and they may be able to send it away to get repaired (or replaced) with no charge.
If it’s not still in warranty, find out if getting it fixed would cost less than buying a new one.
your best bet for ipods is jb hi fi …
the margin for retailers on ipods is TINY, so dont expect much (any) discount.
You can buy refurbished ipods from the apple website - www.apple.com.au then follow the link to ‘Store’, then scroll down and on the bottom left there is a ‘Specials’ section with a link to ‘refurbished ipods’.
These are delivered free in all new packaging and have 12 months warranty. Stock can vary from day to day but some are as much as 50% off retail (usually previous models) - eg current generation 8GB nano for $229 compared to retail price of $357.
Hope this helps.
Ipods are only designed to last 18 months to 3 years. The theory is that every three years, the replacement will be so much better that you will want to upgrade anyway, and the hundreds of dollars you paid (for an inferior product) will be forgotten. Seriously, who do you know with an ipod more than 3 years old ?
There are plenty of places now that repair Ipods (no, don’t send it to Apple to fix) for a reasonable cost, if it in fact can be fixed. But this doesn’t help you much because… your daughter wont want her stinky “old” Ipod anyway. Try Ebay. I have not had a problem buying stuff from Singapore and Hong Kong, and delivery is usually less than ten days.
I recently replaced the battery of a 3rd generation ipod (5 years old) ….
replacement battery from ebay = $18
Time taken to replace it = 15 minutes.
Works like new….
Forget about iPod iRiver is much better
you can get 8gig iRiver that has a micro SD card port, radio, built in speakers , large screen so you can watch movies and you can change the battery yourself. You can also transfer the music back to your computer without any special programs as it is in windows format rather than Mac. Its the one I will get when my iPod dies.
